DAY THIRTY FIVE - Sunday April 29
Patti had a terrible night again – couldn’t sleep, leg killing
her and did I say NO sleep. We cancelled her rehearsals. which meant I had some choreographing to do!
The top of rehearsal was spent with trying to find doctors for Patti, scheduling
auditions to replace our Bondy, getting ready to rehearse a scene and arrange a
song which I would be choreographing tonight.
We did Mary/Sandor (romantic couple) review which went very well. All very different interpretations, all valid, and inspiring colleague-ship with everyone supporting, cueing, helping each other as they watch each other do each others' roles.
Gregg and I had lunch at... wait for it... SUBWAY! See
pix. I've promised Nathaniel I would bring him a Subway sandwich from Russia!
They even have Caviar Potato Chips!
We had a fun evening rehearsal – where I choreographed a number! It involves the 8 millionaire heiress friends of Mary (our title character) bragging about how they can buy anything they want - because they are rich Americans.
Then I worked with Luda, the actress who had missed a week
and a half of rehearsals because she was performing at an opera house 4 hours
away from here. Here’s a bit of our
rehearsal – me speaking in English, she in Russian!
Had a little hang with Patti and Gregg after rehearsal in the gostonitzu (hotel). Patti is finally able to get some sleep so she is feeling much, MUCH better. Which is great. Her husband, David Ruprecht (of game show and many other acting credits fame) is coming next Saturday.
Tomorrow and Tuesday off – big holiday here – The Day of Spring and Labour – this holiday was not allowed to be
celebrated in Russia until the 1917 seize of power by the Bolsheviks.
